Hi,
My name is Sheila Martin. I am an aspiring author, a musician, a wife, a mom, and all that tells you so little about me! My husband and I both work full time (corporate jobs), but after hours and on the weekends we can be found building a farm with our three children.
i have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in psychology and a Masters in Business Administration emphasis in change management. I am also Six Sigma Black Belt certified which is a process improvement body of knowledge based on math/statistics and not a martial art. I got tired of explaining that to people so I also got my yellow belt in Tae kwon do. My career has been one of those long and winding roads, at the beginning it was mostly in the land of IT but I shifted later to customer administration and process improvement. I’m currently a Project Manager in process improvement.
Almost seventeen years ago, I married my best friend. When I met him, my siblings and parents were my closest friends and this is something I never want to take for granted. We really enjoy and respect each other, we grew up sharing lots of laughter and joy so my standards for marriage were high. My husband is the funniest person I know outside of my own family and between the two of us we just barely have our three kids beat in the humor category.
Friends have suggested I write a book about my kids and their antics. I haven’t yet, but I did use real life stories to enter a Toastmaster’s Humorous Speech competition and won district level, second place Regional finalist – I was an alternate for the state competition. Of course, I think I was robbed! At least I got a trophy that I use to prove to my husband that I’m funnier than he is!
I love helping and mentoring people both in the workplace and just life in general. Please let me know if there is anything I can write about that might help you, in whatever work-life situation you find yourself in.
One more thing, and the most important thing – we love God! If you never hear from anyone else about the very real Jesus who came to this earth to bring God near to you – Please let me tell you, this is the God who created you and thinks you are so wonderful, seriously the greatest thing since sliced bread – he died for you. If that isn’t amazing enough he wants to adopt you as his own son/daughter. If no one has told you this, please hear it from me!
I’m not a Bible thumper. I am a Bible reader and student. I’m not particular about church/pedigree. I am a Jesus Christ follower, or a follower of the Way! if you are too – then let’s follow him together! If you are not following him yet or have questions about him please let me know. I love sharing and hearing your stories, and often find that the religious world has over-complicated ‘religious’ things. I seek to understand and help others to understand as well.
Let’s never stop learning, never stop questioning – the world is full of problems waiting to be solved, people waiting to be loved, and stories waiting to be told.
